Yesterday at the Mission church it was good and bad….we will start with the bad….
The Toilet backed up, wow with a house full of course, we called a rotor rooter place, bracing ourselves for the $235 it cost about 6 years ago when we last had it done…did we have the money, no of course not but that is how we run with basically nothing in the bank, if there is money there it is always just waiting to be paid on something, BUT WE MANGE to feed, cloth, pray for, minister to, everyone who comes in one way or another…..
So they do the job, I take him to mom, the wife, and she gives him accredit card that fails of course because there is not enough to cover it. Yep it went up to $381 (I could have bought a machine for that right?) after several tries she finally found a card with enough room to pay for it…..Yes I asked this list for help but got no response….it was a card or shut the door so the card right?
After that or around the same time someone came in and said "I just left the surplus store" He gave us at least 7 pairs of brand new military boots! I just dropped them in the clothing closet, telling the folks try them on before you take them if they do not fit leave them…I think 3 guys and 4 women were very blessed by this! That was making the whole day worth the bill we ran up on the card.
There were other blessings in the day I rarely like sit down and count them all as they are well normal in an abnormal world….
I keep getting asked for cold medication and oh blankets I gave out what I had but everyone needed coats, which I did not have, but was able to give about 3 people blankets…can you see what we need…winter things, coats, blankets, medications, gloves, etc
Thanksgiving coming up fast, our biggest two days of the year, we need roughly 300 pounds of turkey, 50 pounds of potatoes, carrots, onions, 20 pounds of sweet potatoes, the list goes on and on , to date we have received no sponsors as of yet, I do have a couple of people talking about it but nothing in yet and that is when I count it when it's in the door…
Most every year it is only within the last week or coupel of days even the night ebfore when someone gives us the final money needed to go get what we have missing from the menu…it would be great to see one year we have it all before hand…
